He's nuts about squirrels. He's really nuts about raccoons, and all kinds of other critters too.
But Zach's not content to just be crazy about critters, he's got to get it all on film, in his own creative way.

Some filming fools, like this writer for instance, heroically drag heavy tripods and bags full of camera gear up and down miles of trails, through the swamp, in to the woods, down to the beach, up in to a tree, all in the hope of capturing just a few minutes of wildlife footage on their vidcam.
Zach's no swamp trudging fool, he has a better plan.
Why not sit on your back porch with a cold drink, and invite the wildlife to walk up to your camera to get their picture taken?

Zach's blog explains in detail how he built an inventive food packet to attract wildlife, and then set up his cameras to remotely film the action.
It works!
Everybody in the neighborhood wants a taste of Zach's bait. His site has movies of bluejays, chipmunks, crows, doves, grackles, possums, raccoons, skunks, and of course squirrels.
Do It Yourself
If you want to join the fun at your house, Zach patiently explains how you can create your own backyard bag feeder project.
Filming the wildlife, and putting movies on the Web, takes some technical skill that may not appeal to those of you who aren't nutty nature nerds like Zach and myself.
But it's easy to use Zach's instructions to set up a feeder so you can get a better view of the wildlife living in your backyard.
And if you are technically minded to set up your own Backard Bag Feeder Project and record it, please write Zach and let him know so he can include a mention (and videos) of your project on his site!
Watching The Movies
Most of the movies on Zach's site require you to have QuickTime 7 installed on your computer. QuickTime is free movie software for Windows and Mac. Zach is in the process of re-encoding all of his site videos to Flash format, but that's still a work in progress, so you'll still need QuickTime 7 for now.
If you don't have Quicktime, and don't wish to install it, no problem. You can watch some of Zach's movies right here on this site. More coming soon..
